Join us at the museum with free admission from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. for an action-packed day of performances, artists, art-making activities, artist talks by Fernando Lozano, a Mercado (marketplace), and Catrinas (elaborately dressed and painted models inspired by Jose Posada’s iconic print La Calavera Catrina).
What is Día de Muertos?
With roots going back thousands of years to Indigenous traditions in Mexico, this holiday is a time to gather together to remember and celebrate friends and relatives who have passed on. Día de Muertos, also called Day of the Dead, has evolved into a diverse festival, celebrated not only in Mexico but in the U.S. and many other countries.
