🌼✨ You’re Invited! ✨🌼Join us on Saturday, Nov 1st (3–8 PM) at 311 Puyallup Ave, Tacoma for a community Día de los Muertos Celebration.
This is a time when we come together in love, remembrance, and joy — honoring those who have walked before us and keeping their memory alive through prayer, offerings, and community celebration.
🕯️ 3–5 PM | Ceremony of Silence & Remembrance
We invite you to sit in prayer and reflection beside the altar lovingly created by Elder Rita Coatl from Ketzalcoatl Danza Azteca. The Altar will be adorned with Cempasúchil (marigold flowers), known in Mexican tradition as the “flower of the dead.” Their golden color and fragrance are said to form a bridge between worlds, guiding the spirits of our ancestors, friends, and even beloved animals back to be with us for this sacred day. During this quiet time, guitar music will accompany us in holding space for memory and prayer.
🎶 5–8 PM | Celebration of Life
After ceremony, we shift into joy as we honor the circle of life and death. Share food with one another, enjoy music, and bring the spirit of La Catrina & El Catrín to life. (La Catrina and El Catrín are iconic Día de los Muertos figures, dressed in elegant clothing with skeletal features, reminding us that death is not an end but part of the ongoing cycle of existence.) Face painting will be available to help you embody the festive Catrina/Catrín spirit.
🍲 What to Bring
*Photos of your loved ones for the altar
*Food to share and to offer at the altar
*Flowers, candles, or decorations
*Your Catrina/Catrín vibes 💀✨
🤝 Be a Padrino/Padrina
We welcome community organizers and individuals to step in as Padrinos/Padrinas — helping co-host by sponsoring with elements of the celebration such as flowers, candles, food, or elder honorariums.
This is more than an event — it is a way to keep our connections alive across generations, guided by memory, gratitude, and love.
