Colorado Mesa University, the Latino Student Alliance and César Chávez Celebration of Mesa County are proud to host a keynote address and Q&A with Andrés Chávez, grandson of civil rights activist César Chávez.
Details:
Friday, March 31 at 7:30pm
Mesa Experimental Theatre, Moss Performing Arts Center
No ticket required. Space is limited.
César Chávez’s motto was “Sí se puede!” which translates to “Yes, it can be done!” As a Mexican-American labor leader and civil rights activist, Chávez dedicated his life to nonviolent resistance to improve the working and living conditions of farmworkers in the United States. His universal values of equality, justice and dignity remain as relevant and inspiring today as they were in the 1960s and 1970s.
Andrés Chávez, executive director of the National Chavez Center, leads the arm of the César Chávez Foundation that educates and promotes his grandfather’s legacy across the nation. He also oversees two historic properties, including La Paz in Keene, California, where Chávez lived and labored his last quarter century, a portion of which is now the César E. Chávez National Monument that the NCC manages in partnership with the National Park Service.
If you are unable to join us on March 31, join the Latino Student Alliance, President John Marshall and the César Chávez Committee of Mesa Country for a community event at Las Colonias Park on April 1 from 10am-6pm.
