If you've participated in the Cyr Cup races before, you know how much fun they are. The Cyr Cup is actually a series of slalom races taking place throughout the season at Buck Hill. The Cyr Cup is named after Gabe Cyr, a beloved past Race Director at Buck Hill who tragically passed away in a car accident on New Years Eve 1999 on her way to a race at Buck. Midwest Masters has held this race series every year since it was founded in 1999. Each year, the male and female winner of the Cyr Cup gets their name engraved on the trophy named in honor of Gabe.
With races taking place primarily on week nights throughout the season, this is a great opportunity to get out and get some slalom racing in close to home if you live in the Twin Cities. Maybe you haven't skied slalom since high school and want to get back into it - maybe you've never tried slalom and want to give it a go - maybe, you're a slalom guru and want to show off your skills. Regardless, this series is a ton of fun!
Bring your friends, your kids, or just yourself! Kids under the age of 18 are welcome to participate as long as a parent/guardian is racing too and you don't need a Masters license to participate! If you're lacking slalom equipment, don't let that deter you. Let us know if you need certain equipment (shin guards, pole guards, even skis) and we will do our best to help find what you need.
