Cycling at East Kolkata WetlandsSunday, November 29th, 2020

Kolkata Explorers (a division of Green Step Tourism) is pleased to organise a tour of the wetlands on cycle. This is just to promote the importance of our wetlands and to raise an awareness on their protection. We will take you on the road to Wetlands and show you the wonders of nature in this Ramsar site.
Starting from Chandra Gardens (opposite Science City). The detailed route and plan will be intimated on registration.
TOUR ITINERARY:
1. Meet at Chandra Gardens gate no. 2, opposite Science City, at 6:45am.
2. After a brief introduction, we will start at 7am and return to same place by 9am
3. The route to be followed is Basanti Highway. Enter Wetlands through Bantala Lockgates. Metalled roads will be used for cycling. We will avoid the mud track roads deep inside the wetlands.
4. The detailed route and plan will be intimated on registration.
What you can expect from us:
1. An overview of the Wetlands
2. A glimpse into the life of the villagers in this Ramsar site
3. An understanding of the process of natural cleansing of the sewerage water of the city
4. An understanding of the old channels and river connections
5. A tea break at the end before we exit the Wetlands
What we will provide:
1. A guided tour of the East Kolkata Wetlands
2. A Car will be with us to take care of any exigencies
3. First aid box
4. Tea and biscuits from the local shops
What you are required to bring:
1. Your own cycle, serviced and in use
2. Headgear and accessories
3. Masks and sanitiser
4. Own water bottle
5. Anything you need to eat before you start and any medicines you need
6. Smartphone fully charged
Dress code :
Only in cycling tracts and shoes
REGISTRATION CHARGES : Rs 450/- PER PERSON. GROUP SIZE NOT MORE THAN 20 CYCLISTS.
THE CYCLISTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN GOOD HEALTH AND ABLE TO CYCLE FROM SCIENCE CITY TO WETLANDS AND BACK FOR THE DURATION OF THE TOUR.
