About this Event

Healthcare is an attractive target for cybercrime for two fundamental reasons: it is a rich source of valuable data and its defences - for many reasons - often lag well behind best practice. This talk focuses on the journey of the Cyber Security Uplift Programme, from the starting point after the low of the Waikato Hospital breach to the achievements of today.

It will cover the pillars of the Cyber Security Uplift programme and in particular the outcomes and lessons learned in how to manage effective maturity uplift.

It will also cover some key takeaways from deploying AV/EDR to 76,000 workstations, applying SPF/DKIM/DMARC to 600 domains, enabling Conditional Access Policy and Privilege Identity Management for 125,000 user accounts, and building an effective Security Operations Team.

Speaker Bio: Jerome van Rooijen, Cyber Technology Lead

Jerome was originally a technical cyber security specialist who has increasingly focused on the intersection between business, technology, and security, helping large organisations to lift cyber security maturity across people, process, and technology.

This includes playing a leading role in developing effective cyber security strategy, building high proficiency teams, enabling collaboration across business groups, and taking on daily management of identity, network, email, and AV/EDR uplift programmes in the health sector.
