WORKSHOP IS $100
The cyanotype process is a photographic process that dates back to 1842 by Sir John Frederick William Herschel. It was one of the first ways of producing photographs. This alternative printing process uses UV rays to make prints. Each piece is made by applying the cyanotype solution to the material, arranging the flowers, foliage or objects on the material and exposing it to the sun. After it is washed with water, the piece turns to a Persian blue. In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own cyanotypes and go home with your very own kit!
Please feel free to bring any objects flowers, leaves, tools (any object that makes a distinct shape) or film (film must be black and white). Flowers will also be provided by the instructor.
What’s included?
A cyanotype kit and instructions so you can make your own cyanotypes at home. Each kit comes with Potassium ferricyanide and Ferric ammonium citrate (both are completely non toxic), water color paper, a brush to coat the solution, plexiglass and cardboard for printing.
Learn how to make cyanotypes step by step! Each participant will make a 9”x12” print and a 6”x10” textile to take home.
