About this Event
The Summertime Cyanotypes workshop introduces participants to the basics of creating cyanotype images with instructor Holly Chang. Cyanotypes are images printed with the sun and have been used to index plants and objects since the 1800s. Participants will learn how to use pretreated fabric sheets and chemistry to print flowers, plants, and objects. In this workshop, each person should expect to create 5 images minimum.
This workshop will also cover a brief history of cyanotype, and the technical and conceptual aspects of this technique as we practice it today, demo includes cyanotype step-by-step as well as stitching the squares onto participants' desired surfaces such as T-shirts, tote bags etc. If participants have t-shirts, tote bags or other objects they would like to be printed with cyanotype images, they are free to bring them. Otherwise, all the materials will be provided.
***Please note that this is the new date for the workshop, as our original August 11th session had to be rescheduled due to a light chance of rain and insufficient sunlight, which is crucial for creating Cyanotype prints.
