Sunday 4th August
10am til 4pm
Tutor : Nick
Address: 10-16 Boyd Street, Studio 4, Cobalt Studios, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE2 1AP
This workshop will introduce a method for exposing cyanotypes onto glass. Cyanotype photography is a 19th century process, which involves creating photo negatives and coating the desired material in cyanotype solution.
This process is commonly used on paper and fabric, however the process of exposing onto glass is a bit more involved. Whether or not you have tried the cyanotype process before, you will still be able to participate in this class.
The cyanotype solution must be carefully cooked into a mixture which includes gelatin, in order for it to stick to the glass. Nick will show you how to create the mixture, and the method for coating the glass. You will then be shown how to prepare a digital image and print a photo negative onto acetate.
The next step is then to expose the surface of the glass to UV light, and develop in water. You will be able to take home your creations on the day. This process has the quality of a handmade artwork, and no two prints are ever the same!
no refunds available later than 7 days before the start of the class
