Join us for a creative spin on traditional thank-you notes, greeting cards, and bookmarks! In this hands-on cyanotype workshop, you’ll design and create beautiful, unique blue-and-white note cards and personalized bookmarks. Using pre-coated cyanotype paper, along with stencils, lace, and plenty of inspiration, you’ll craft unique pieces that blend art, science, and UV light. Each student will create three notecards (with envelopes) and two bookmarks.Melissa will provide a variety of interesting objects to use, but you’re welcome to bring your own materials such as lace, buttons, jewelry, photo negatives, leaves, or flowers. Items with transparency or striking silhouettes work especially well.
Cyanotype is an accessible, nontoxic photographic printing process that produces prints in a rich turquoise-blue. Compared to other photographic techniques, it’s simple, affordable, and requires no darkroom.
Perfect for beginners, this class includes everything you need for a relaxed and inspiring introduction to the magic of cyanotype printing.
