The Queen is Dead, Long live the Queen - For decades there's been, a ride like no others
CXMas, the ride, for cycling sisters and brothers
Started years ago by Jerks, and passed on to me
This year is the time that I now set it free
But fear not my good friends, we will go out with a bang
Tune up your bike and assemble your gang
Queeny Park is the venue and Jan 1 is the day
When you'll ride on your bike and pedal away
You can ride slow or race it, the choice is all yours
You can go very easy or sweat from your pores
"Why do we do this?" is a question that may rise,
But CXMas folks know, it's a joyful surprise.
CX bikes are ideal, though a mountain bike will do,
But road bikes beware, spare tubes are for you.
We'll shout for the victors, but the greatest ovations,
Goes to those who spread cheer and share their donations.
No entry fee needed, no registration to fill,
Just friends coming together, their spirits to thrill.
Bring your trusty steed, some utensils and food,
A smile on your face and a courteous mood.
Regardless of effort, an hour should do
To complete the course and then you'll be through.
Now you're prepared, you're so close to glee,
But make sure that you donate and RSVP
And remember that mystery is what this day is about
So don't you dare ask, for a map of the route
For our new folks - welcome! CXMas is a long standing STL tradition that requires much more space than I have here to explain. That said, it comes down to this: CXMas is comprised of a race or ride (you make it whatever you want) that traverses a mystery route for about an hour. The goal is for everyone to have a great time, share a few drinks, and ride their bikes together. There is no registration or fee to participate but we do have a donations bucket. 100% of all donations go to fund a handful of charities like GORC, Trail Assist and Team Noah.
What do you need to do? RSVP here so we know how to plan:
What do I need to bring? Donation money, A side dish of some sort for sharing with everyone, your bike and helmet, any libations you wish to share, a happy heart filled with holiday cheer.
Race / Ride will begin promptly at noon so be there ahead of time to get ready to ride. As in year's past, if weather super bad, we will postpone to a later date but don't think that 30 degrees and cloudy is the kind of weather I'm talking about. It has to get pretty dire for a CXMas to get postponed. See less
