The next walk for Cwm Walking will be on Saturday 14th February 2026 at Newton, Porthcawl led by Diane.Meet at Newton beach slipway for a 10.30am start. What 3 words /// drifter.survey.pollution.
Parking is along Beach Rd (CF36 5NE) on yellow lines which don't apply during winter. It can get busy so maybe car share?
Don't use the rip off car park. (£9)!!!
The walk is approximately 8 miles taking us across Newton Burrows to Merthyr Mawr village, Candelston, Merthyr Mawr warren and returning along the beach. We will be walking along paths through the dunes, woodland, across farmland and negotiating two stiles and a stream. There are some uphill sections. Poles would be useful. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for this time of year and bring the usual picnic lunch.
