MEETING POINT is at the small crossroads by the RC Chapel, after the cemetery gates coming from the main Earlham Road entrance (What3words: //watch.normal.wool).

Those remembered at Earlham Cemetery provide an amazing diversity of stories. There is Captain and Quartermaster George William Valentine Clements who fought in all the major battles of the Crimean War and died serving at Mousehold Camp aged 85 in 1916; There is also the story of Lieutenant Muller Chateau who fought at Gallipoli in 1915 as part of the Light Horse Regiment with the Australian Imperial Force and ended the War in the British Army as a commissioned officer in the Royal Artillery. It also includes the love story of Wladislaw Slizewski and Eugenia Zagajewska of the Polish Forces who lie next to each other having died together on Easter Weekend 1946. Eugenia’s commemoration of one of only two known headstones for Polish female service personnel in World War 2 of in the UK.

Please also be aware that as Norwich City Cemetery is a public and active site, there may be funeral ceremonies taking place on the day and mourners are likely to be present.

The tours last approx. 60 mins and covers about 1500 meters on grass with uneven ground.

The cemetery is wheelchair accessible but we will be on unpaved and uneven grass surfaces.

There are no facilities on site, so please bring water if required.

There is parking both on the approach to the cemetery gates and inside the cemetery by the meeting point.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

Dogs are not allowed on site.

Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.

The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
