MEETING POINT: The Cross of Sacrifice just inside the Hard Lane entrance.
St Helens Cemetery is the final resting places of 100s of local and other Commonwealth casualties of both world wars. An 18-year-old cadet of the Royal Air Force who died in 1918 in a tragic flying accident just three days before Armistice Day. Australian and Canadian personnel, brothers buried together, and others buried far from their homeland including a Royal Yugoslav Petty Officer, Polish Soldier, an American citizen who enlisted in a Liverpool Regiment, a Norwegian fisherman who served in a British regiment. Two WW1 casualties remembered and commemorated 100 years after their death due to the diligence and research of family and military historians.
Parking available outside the gates; no toilets at weekends - 10 minute walk during weekdays; no refreshments available; suitable for wheel chair or mobility scooter users.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
