MEETING POINT is inside the main gate by the Royal British Legion Memorial.

We will talk about Flight Engineer Bernard Pearce who flew over fifty sorties in his Sterling bomber over enemy occupied Europe. We visit the memorial to six Danish sailors who lost their lives in a tragic accident whilst coming up the Bristol Channel to Barry docks. Learn how a Barry dock labourer was awarded a bravery medal between the two World Wars and went to serve in the Royal Navy in WW2 on HMS Barrage. We will talk about the landing ship HM LST 415, the roll it played on D-Day and how it became the target of an attack by a German E boat.

Plenty of on-street parking on Cemetery Approach and surrounding streets; on-site facilities including toilets with disability access; good pathways but ground is undulating in places.

Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.

The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
