DO YOU KNOW HOW TO ADAPT BOOKS AND OTHER LITERACY MATERIALS AND TEACH NUMERACY TO CHILDREN WITH CVI?Teaching literacy skills to children with CVI requires an approach that is founded on the essential principles of literacy but may vary from approaches used for individuals with ocular forms of visual impairment. Individuals with CVI may be best able to access literacy when materials and methods are adapted in accordance with the CVI characteristics at the level of a current CVI range score.
Some children with CVI will achieve the prerequisites for reading and ultimately become competent readers while others will follow a different path. We cannot foresee ahead of time who will read so all children must be provided with a path to literacy and numeracy.
