An evening of music, chat, stories and surprises/One of the longest standing acts on the Warwickshire folk scene, The Harvesters are next to face the ‘Up Close & Acoustic’ treatment. Founder members, Ian and Sue Hartland, both superb multi-instrumentalists, singers and specialists in Appalachian step-dancing, teamed up with slide guitar, dobro and banjo wizard, Bob Powell to produce the authentic back-porch sound of the American tradition. While Sue has recently taken early retirement, Ian and Bob have kept the Harvesters’ name on the guest lists of clubs and festivals and have recently been introducing the lively sounds and rhythms of mountain music, blues, gospel and old-time, good-time Americana to that most discerning of audiences, the Women’s Institute.
‘Up Close & Acoustic’ aims to reveal more of what inspires and motivates leading local folk musicians. The intimate and convivial atmosphere generated by Bill Bates’s relaxed and sometimes cheeky questioning creates a memorable and entertaining evening of music, stories and surprises! Tickets £14.50 (£10.50 concessions)
