Former member of The Dubliners, SEAN CANNON has delighted audiences across the globe with his lilting tenor voice and his wry sense of humour. Now in his 85th year, Sean still keeps up the annual tours with The Dublin Legends but hardly ever plays solo gigs on the folk club circuit these days. So this will be an extremely rare local appearance and special occasion for his fans and followers on home territory.Sean has frequently toured and recorded with his talented singer and guitarist son JAMES CANNON, and they will be interviewed together by CVFolk’s answer to Graham Norton, BILL BATES with chat and anecdotes plus a few songs and, hopefully, one or two surprise guest appearances. Sean still delights in sharing tales of the ‘shenanigans he used to get up to’ in the 60s, so expect an evening of warm memories, impish humour and glorious music from a true legend in Irish music.
The idea behind ‘Up Close & Acoustic’ is to reveal more of what inspires and motivates leading locally-based folk musicians. The intimate and convivial atmosphere generated by Bill Bates’s relaxed and sometimes cheeky questioning creates a memorable and entertaining evening of music, stories and surprises! Tickets: £14.50 (£10.50 concessions)
