About this Event
Cuttlefish casting is an ancient technique of casting in metal using found cuttle bones that get washed up on the beach. Two bones are rubbed together to form a flush flat surface between which you can press objects and scratch designs. Creating a pour hole you can then melt and pour molten metal into the mould creating beautiful cast designs that retain some of the texture of the cuttle.
Most materials are provided including cuttle bones and a limited amount of pewter and silver. Extra silver can be purchased on the day, silver is between 60-79p per gram, it fluctuates daily. Please bring design ideas and objects you wish to cast.
