Saturday will mark a sea change in Democratic politics in Arkansas. Grant Tennille, who pulled the party from.the very edge of fiscal and physical collapse, is stepping back to rest and catch up on family time. We have had two candidates step forward to commit to leading the state party forward into this ever more frightening political arena. We'll vote between retired Colonel Marcus Jones and Vice Chair Jannie Marie Cotton. we can discuss the two in the event threads.
But for the past 5 months, the Arkansas Progressive Democrats Caucus has been collaborating with Lonoke County Chair Corey Spangler and a team of people working to bring Democratic policy and values back to the people. Spangler had drafted a rules change proposal that would give Arkansas Democrats a process to cut dark money out of democratic politics.
Four months ago, the rules change was submitted to the state party for the state committee to discuss and vote on this coming Saturday. You can read the rule change language on our petition:

Real Deal Democrats is the committee that formed around this rules change. While this was happening, we saw progressives in both Arizona and North Carolina pass resolutions to ban corporate pac money in democratic elections. We reached out to them and have been in touch. We actually drafted a resolution to accompany the rules change that would match the ones our friends to the East and West passed by a good margin.
As of Wednesday the 12th, Bernie Sanders and Rho Khanna have both endorsed our measures and the newly elected Democratic National Committee leader is pushing for all state parties to cut PAC slush funds and corporate buyouts out of our elections.
We want to help rebuild the democratic party into something that people can believe in. We want to fix the rot in the party system. But to do that, we need you. The public is encouraged to attend these state committee meetings, and this is one that we would love to see every concerned citizen present at.
With discussion around a vote to allow Democratic caucuses to endorse candidates, there are a few discussions being had that are going to completely change filing season in Novemeber. We want YOU to come be part of that change.
