Explore Cuthbert's Moor with Durham Wildlife Trust. Learn peatlands' history, hands-on peat coring, and immersive soundscapes. Unearth the secrets of peatlands in a unique experience!
Join us for a fantastic event at Cuthbert's Moor Nature Reserve which promises a comprehensive exploration of peatlands and their dynamic history. Dr Antony Blundell will discuss shifts over the last 500 years, with a focus on palaeoecology's role in informing restoration decisions. Attendees can actively engage by coring a peatland and interpreting their observations. Artists Laura Harrington and Tim Shaw will explore Cuthbert's Moor soundscapes, prompting reflections on how sound and listening can deepen connections with peatlands. Tim Shaw's "Ambulation" invites participants on a unique sound walk using environmental sounds. Facilitating the event is Josh Cohen, contributing to the WaterLANDS project and playing a pivotal role in uniting people and ideas for this enriching experience.
