This 20 mile route takes us out of town via New Bridge and the Irongray road. At Irongray we'll take the east side of the Cluden Water up past Morrington, where we'll cross back to the west side of the river to Drumpark. We're including a visit to Drumpark, part of Scotland’s Gardens Schemes. This is by arrangement only, so we have booked ahead. We will stop here to explore the gardens and have a picnic - NOTE please bring your own food and refreshments). Admission by donation, suggested at £5 per person, which goes to Camphill Community at Loch Arthur.
All in all the route will total 20 miles, and will be mostly gentle hills, with a climb initially and then downhill on the way back. We expect the ride to take 2 -3 hours, depending on how long we stop and the pace - we keep the speed down so that everyone can feel comfortable with the pace and has the time to look around and enjoy the scenery!
Rides continue regardless of the weather, unless the ride leader decides it would be dangerous (or no fun) – we normally don’t ride if there are weather warnings or snow and ice on the roads.
There’s no need to book but if you use Facebook you can sign up for the event via our Facebook page. If you’ve any questions or aren’t sure if this ride is suitable then email us ([email protected]). You don’t need to be a member to come on our rides but if you enjoy them and want to support our work then please join – membership is from £5 per year.
