About this Event
Come along for a captivating journey through Crescent Heights on a Jane’s Walk like no other. Explore the neighborhood’s charm and creativity as we meander through its streets (and alleys), focusing on the unique art, design, and installations adorning the yards, streets, and garages of homes. From whimsical sculptures to thought-provoking murals, each stop offers a glimpse into the diverse imaginations of Crescent Heights residents. Led by a passionate Crescent Heightian and artist, this walk promises to unveil hidden gems, spark conversations, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the artistic spirit woven into the fabric of this vibrant community.
MEETING SPOT: Colourful House Mural (former DuckToes Building) - 902 Centre St N
WALK NOTES: Fun for kids, covering lots of ground, some stairs and steep slopes
YOUR WALK LEADER: Adam Schwartz / AGS.YYC (he/him) is a born and raised Calgarian, and a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on “attaching stuff to city stuff” to make more cities more vibrant, enjoyable, and inclusive. Adam is fixated on the urban realm and the various ways it includes and excludes people from participating in its design and transformation. Adam works with found objects, recycled materials, bright colours, and engaging displays to answer questions about the ways citizens interact with their public surroundings. His work can currently be found hidden throughout downtown Calgary, and North Central neighbourhoods, as he incrementally attempts to turn obscure and meaningless spaces into more mysterious and whimsical places.
