Join us in the Little Theater for an inspiring and thought-provoking program that dives into the vibrant world of African art, where creativity, culture, and innovation intersect! African art is a dynamic and ever-evolving field, born from rich traditions and cultural exchanges on the continent and across the globe. It is a powerful force that continues to captivate with its ingenuity, diversity, and complexity. Through the hands of masterful artists, African art becomes a vehicle for storytelling, weaving together themes, techniques, and patterns that speak to the deep and multifaceted experiences of Africa and its people. In this special event, Drs. Lanisa Kitchiner and Wendy Grossman, co-curators of Strategic Interplay: African Art and Imagery, will take you on an exciting journey through the world of African art, comparing the intricate artistry to the careful strategy of a chess grandmaster. Discover how African artists use motifs, symbols, and conceptual designs not only to reflect beauty and tradition but also to communicate values, history, and the lived experiences of the continent.
This event is free.
