Join Works on Paper Curator Andi McKenzie for a conversation with collectors Wes and Missy Cochran of LaGrange, Georgia. Wes, a retired stonemason, and Missy, a retired high school math teacher, are ardent supporters of Black artists and African American art, built a collection comprised of works created by both prominent and under-recognized artists including Romare Bearden, Camille Billops, Elizabeth Catlett, David Driskell, Faith Ringgold, Alma Thomas, Mildred Thompson, Hale Woodruff, and so many others. This conversation will center on relationships turned friendships; salon, workshop, and studio visits; and growing a collection ethically.This program is held in conjunction with the exhibition "Together: Selections from the Cochran Collection of African American Art," curated by Andi McKenzie, curator of works on paper, and Alexandra Nelson, Schulz Intern, Spelman C25.
