Dr Sarah Victoria Turner is an art historian and Director of the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. She has published widely and co-curated several major exhibitions, most recently,Making New Worlds: Li Yuan-chia & Friends at Kettle’s Yard.
Much of her academic writing has focused on the entangled relationships between Britain, the British Empire and South Asia. With Hammad Nasar, Senior Research Fellow at the PMC, Sarah co-leads the London, Asia research project. They co-curated, with Dr Amy Tobin, the exhibition Making New Worlds at Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge, focussing the artist Li Yuan-chia and the LYC Museum and Art Gallery he established in Cumbria in the 1970s.
This talk is a must for anyone interested in Li and his legacy, the work at the LYC in Banks and the links with Helen and Jim Ede who founded Kettle's Yard.
