About this Event
Part 5 of 8 in the CAHAM curanderismo workshop series, featuring guest instruction from L.A. native healer, Doña Lanette Diaz!
Learn the basics of healing with the air element and working with the direction of the North (Mictlampa) in Chicano & Mexican curanderismo. Students will learn about:
- air-associated herbs
- how to avoid harmful vientos (winds/energies) and heal with beneficial ones, including traditional breathwork techniques
- how to perform traditional air limpias (energy cleansings) using sabanas (fans), sonajas (rattles), and other tools
- the healing elements associated with the North
- and more!
Healer and Patiloni Collective member Lanette Diaz specializes in hands-on healing using sound limpias and barridas, or traditional "sweeping" cleansings using eggs, plants, stones, and other natural elements traditional to curanderismo. With over 20 years of experience serving communities throughout the southwest, Doña Lanette excels at helping clients who feel "stuck" to move blocked, stagnant energy, reconnect with their highest Self and inner child, and move through feelings of disconnect and dissociation to return to their bodies. Doña Lanette's workshop will focus on using the air element to help cleanse body, mind, and spirit for holistic healing, new beginnings, and fresh starts.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Arizona Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities, this and all other installments of the CAHAM curanderismo workshop series is free and open to the public! The Sonoran Desert Cultural Preservation Society, its Center for Ancestral Healing Arts and Medicines, and the curanderismo workshop series instructors sincerely thank AZ Humanities and the NEH for making this project possible. ¡Muchísimas gracias, patrones!
