About this Event
The School of Cultures, Languages and Linguistics at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, is excited to host the Cultures, Communication, Communities 2023 conference from 30 November - 2 December 2023 in Auckland, New Zealand. With the theme "Re-Imagining the City: Legacies, Challenges, Possibilities," this transdisciplinary gathering will explore the intricate relationship between cities and communities, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region and the impact of the "global city" concept on urban development.
The conference will bring together researchers and leaders from universities, local government, community organizations, and industry, to engage in productive discussions and exchange insights on the future of cities and their impact on communities. We believe the conference will provide a unique platform for sharing innovative ideas, exploring new theoretical formulations of the urban, and developing productive solutions to the challenges facing cities and communities today.
Join us for this exciting event and be a part of this important conversation. We welcome proposals for individual or co-authored presentations, colloquia and Blue Sky workshops. The submission guidelines and abstract template are available here.
Featuring Keynote speakers Associate Professor Sender Dovchin of Curtin University in Australia, Professor Laura Rascaroli of the University College Cork in Ireland, and Professors Deidre Brown, Francis Collins and Kobus Mentz from the University of Auckland/Waipapa Taumata Rau in Aotearoa New Zealand.
