About this Event
QPL’s Culture Connection is delighted to host this conversation with Suzi Ronson and May Pang in honor of Women’s History Month! These women have been part of the histories of two of the biggest legends in rock 'n' roll: David Bowie and John Lennon. They will tell their own stories together, from a woman’s perspective, during this Culture Connection exclusive event.
Suzi Ronson is an author, songwriter, and former hairdresser and stylist. She recently penned her memoir Me and Mr. Jones: My Life with David Bowie and the Spiders from Mars. Ronson traveled the world with Bowie and his legendary backing band as his hairdresser, stylist, and confidante, and helped create his iconic and revolutionary Ziggy Stardust hairstyle. Ronson has also worked with Lou Reed, Mick Ronson, Iggy Pop, and John Mellencamp.
May Pang was hired by John Lennon and Yoko Ono as their personal assistant in 1970. She would eventually become their production coordinator. Pang is the author of the books Loving John” and “Instamatic Karma, where she recounts her personal and professional relationship with the musical icon and former Beatle. She has also worked for Island Records, where she coordinated all activities related to the release of albums by Robert Palmer, Third World, and Bob Marley and the Wailers.
This program will be moderated by performer and artist Dylan Hundley, who is best known as the lead singer of the alternative/electronic acts Lulu Lewis and Darling Black and for her role as Sally Fowler in Whit Stillman's film Metropolitan. There will be limited copies of Suzi Ronson’s Me and Mr. Jones available for sale and signing.
