FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLICVera Videnovich of Videnovich Farms joins KAC for the first in a special Culture Club series - 'Follow the Thread: Shear.' Videnovich will talk about her 63-year-old family farm as we have the opportunity to feel shorn wool before the spinning process. This is a drop-in style conversation and hands-on demonstration.
The 25-acre farm was founded in 1962 by Vera's father Bozin Videnovich who brought with him generations of farming techniques and experience from Eastern Serbia with a focus on growing peppers for the Chicago Serbian immigrant community. After his death in 1992 three of his five children continued running the farm.
In connection with the current exhibition 'A Beautiful Mess,' this special Culture Club is a three-part series that follows the weaving process from fleece to masterpiece. Join us for happy hour on the first Thursday of each month as local guest artists lead discussion and hands-on activities.
As part of this monthly club, artists share enriching media connected to the art on view: a book they studied, a movie that inspired them, a playlist that got them through the project - anything goes! Each month, we’ll meet to discuss. Drinks and lite bites provided. While exhibitions are always free and open to all ages, the media and related discussion as part of Culture Club is intended for an adult audience. Ages 18+ recommended.
