Culturally Competent Care & Implicit Bias
Join us for a powerful professional workshop designed for doulas and birthworkers who are committed to advancing culturally competent care and addressing implicit bias in birthwork.
Culturally Competent Care & Implicit Bias: Building Equity in Birthwork will explore how implicit bias shapes birth outcomes, how it impacts client experiences, and how we, as care providers, can transform our practice to center respect, equity, and dignity for all families.
This workshop will be led by our keynote speaker Michelle Gabriel-Caldwell, PhD, CD(DONA), CLE, CBE, NBDA Instructor, who brings expertise in cultural humility, equity, and perinatal health.
What You'll Learn:
- The ways implicit bias influences maternal and infant health outcomes
- Tools to recognize and challenge personal and systemic bias in birthwork
- Practical strategies for providing culturally responsive, affirming care
- Approaches to becoming an advocate for equitable and respectful care
