We are hosting monthly workshops to help create culturally sensitive aftercare services for Black women and families through baby loss.
About this Event

WHAT DOES GOOD AFTERCARE LOOK LIKE?

We’re hosting another one of our monthly aftercare workshops and inviting Black African and Caribbean mothers and families in Manchester to come along and take part.

This workshop will be practical in nature as we explore what good care looks like, some important cultural practices linked to aftercare and where emotion is stored in the body through grief.

There will be movement, creative pieces, and discussions around how bereavement care can be more accessible and accommodating for African and Caribbean women and our families.

Too often, bereavement services doesn't reflect the cultural or spiritual needs of women and families from African and Caribbean communities.

Unfortunately this results in many women from our communities not seeking supportive aftercare to help endure the healing process of a miscarriage, loss or stillbirth.

Our aim is to support the local hospital in creating a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that provides appropraite and culturally sensitive after care.

This project is about making the necessary changes — together.

Through these sessions you’ll be helping to create sustainable, culturally sensitive bereavement resources and procedures that truly support our communities.

✨ What you can expect:

  • Discussions on what good care looks like
  • Creative workshop and open conversations
  • Physical movement
  • Exploring cultural practices
  • Delicious refreshments provided
  • New participants will be reimbursed

Your contribution will help ensure that future bereavement care is inclusive, compassionate, and rooted in the lived experiences of Black families.

Join us in shaping change that lasts.

📩 Register now or DM us for more details.

We look forward to building with you!
