Description: The architectural landscapes of culturally-rich Europe present endless motifs of vibrant colour and composition for the artist. Join me for European travels and learn to interpret these scenes and those of your own travels in the very accessible and beautiful medium of watercolour!
These four watercolour classes are designed to guide you through techniques for painting cultural landscapes and images of travel experiences in watercolour. We will explore how to paint beautiful and highly painterly images that capture the essence of a place. Roberta’s own travel experiences in numerous European countries (Germany, Italy, France, Ireland, Scotland, Majorca, Cyprus, Malta) have provided her with a wealth of photographic images from which to work.
Learn to capture this old-world beauty with delicate and translucent watercolour paints to create both subtle and bold compositions. The course will focus on style, composition and colour selection, making use of colour values and intensity to create distance, depth, shadow and three-dimensionality. You will learn to use warm, cool and complementary colour combinations, and how to use colour effectively to capture the essence of your image. We will use washes, glazing, brush strokes and more to create texture, drama, mood, and light. This course is designed for those who have some experience in watercolour painting.
