About this Event
Doors open at 5:10 PM
Conversation begins at 5:30 PM
A short reception will be held at 7:00 PM
In a shift away from concert hall dance forms, a number of contemporary choreographers are drawing on popular and traditional dance vocabularies. In this conversation, (NYU, CBA '22) brings together (Macalester) and (Columbia) to discuss this turn of collaborative processes through the works of Brazilian choreographers Lia Rodrigues and Mario Nascimento. Their hybridized dance vocabularies construct dramaturgical structures shaped by friction, forging a cultural continuum that links contemporary urban popular forms with traditional movement inventories.
This is an in-person event. The program will be recorded and posted to our Youtube channel.
