Newfoundland and Labrador are the most easterly province in Canada, and the strait of Belle Isle separates the Island of Newfoundland from the mainland of North America. Human habitation in Newfoundland and Labrador can be traced back about 9,000 years. The province is the closest landmass to the location where the Titanic sank on April 15, 1912. The Titanic was considered unsinkable, but foundered in frigid Atlantic waters off Newfoundland after striking an iceberg.Taff Roberts, while on a Newfoundland Walkabout in 2004, became fascinated with its people and history. He will share with you what he has learned about this fascinating island.
This program is open to the public and light refreshments will be served. Any free-will offerings will benefit the WCHS and Sandbar Storytelling Festival.
