Infection Control Course Content Summary
This course reviews infection prevention for oral healthcare settings according to the most current CDC Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health Care Settings and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. Scenarios will be discussed to assist dental professionals in identifying risks and applying standard precautions to break the infection cycle. Specific prevention controls will include personal protective equipment, dental instrument cleaning and sterilization, dental unit waterline cleaning and testing, and developing and evaluating an effective infection control program.
Three expected outcomes of the attendee learning experience :
(i.e., changes in attitude, new approach, correction of outdated attitude, providing new knowledge, intro to mastery of skills, or altering habits)
- A fresh perspective on the consequences of the infection control cycle.
- Appreciation of the importance each dental healthcare professional plays in breaking the infection cycle.
- Correction of legacy errors using standard operating procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.
