About this Event
CBDIO is a community benefit organization created in 1993 to serve the Indigenous migrant communities from Mexico that reside in California. Our mission is to “Build Indigenous power through collective action to achieve economic, social and cultural development”. The conference will include topics that will facilitate the understanding of the Indigenous communities' culture and best practices the CBDIO team uses when serving our community.
For this year's conference, CBDIO staff, in collaboration with Indigenous scholars, will present on the following areas of work:
- Indigenous Migration to California: Historical Perspective and Social Activism.
- Education: Language access and culturally-tailored programming for Indigenous students and parents.
- Language Justice: The right for people to access services in their native language and best practices for working with Interpreters
- Health: Approaches to tailoring and adapting health and care coordination programs for Indigenous families.
Join us in bringing knowledge and useful tools when working with the Indigenous communities in the region!
