Of all the Buddha’s abundant fruits, compassion is the seed.Join us in an experiential journey to explore the many facets of compassion, through teaching, reflection/discussion and meditation. Suitable for people of any religion or of none, this course encourages us to reflect on the widely renowned Buddhist teachings on kindness and compassion. The course has been developed from the ancient tradition of Buddhist practitioners. The techniques, skills and knowledge learnt on this course can be used to enhance and enrich our lives.
The course consists of 10 weekly one hour sessions during which we are introduced to a complete picture of what compassion is, why it is beneficial to us and the world around us together with the possibility of personal transformation to a more wholesome way of being.
Format
In each session we aim for an approximately even distribution of:
- Formal practices
- Interactive or contemplative activities
- Instructor-led presentations and discussions
- Video presentations
This course will help us to:
- Gain knowledge and awareness of ourselves and the world around us by looking into different aspects of compassion: from your own point of view and experience, from a modern scientific point of view, as well as from the Buddhist perspective.
- Deepen and internalise our knowledge and understanding through personal analysis and reflection.
- Familiarise ourselves with the experience of compassion
- Establish the habit of compassion, through formal meditation practices as well as activities designed to integrate compassion into our everyday lives.
Participants are encouraged to commit to a regular, daily compassion practice—recognizing that it is only through actually practising that the benefits of personal understanding and transformation will be achieved.
Led by instructors with many years of experience of these teachings, each session consists of:
- Video teachings from Tibetan and Western Buddhist masters including HH The Dalai Lama, Sogyal Rinpoche, Patrick Gaffney, Sharon Salzberg and others
- Meditation practice
- Time for contemplation
- Group discussions and Q&A, offering you the opportunity to explore the teachings and practices in an open supportive environment.

INSTRUCTORS
Brigid Mallon
Brigid has been studying and practicing Tibetan Buddhist meditation and compassion practices for over 30 years and has attended retreats with great masters over that time. She has worked in the health and education sectors and found the teachings and practices transformative in both my personal and professional life.

Geraldine Clare
Geraldine has been studying Buddhadharma for over twenty years. Her meeting with the teachings was of major significance in her personal journey. She is a Rigpa instructor who has facilitated and presented on many programmes and courses. Her other voluntary activities at present include the role of National Coordinator for Rigpa Ireland and currently serves on its Board of Directors.
Tony Mealy
Tony has been following the Buddhist path for over 10 years during which he has attended and instructed courses in the Dublin Centre and online. He has also attended retreats with Buddhist Masters.
