About this Event
Experience the vibrant flavors of Morocco, the culinary star of North Africa, in this hands-on cooking class. Morocco’s unique history, including a 44-year connection as a French protectorate, has influenced its cuisine, blending North African traditions with European finesse.
Join food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley as she guides you through creating a flavorful Moroccan-inspired menu:
- Ras-el-Hanout Moroccan Lamb Meatballs: Learn to make a traditional North African spice blend to flavor tender lamb meatballs.
- Lemon Saffron Couscous: Serve the meatballs over aromatic couscous studded with olives and herbs.
- Cucumber and Mint Salad: A refreshing side to balance the warmth of the spices.
- Gazelle Horns (Pastry Crescents): End the meal on a sweet note by shaping almond-filled pastry crescents, a Moroccan classic often enjoyed with coffee or tea.
During the class, Shawnie will discuss the unique flavors of Moroccan cooking, share her experiences living in the south of France, and guide you on sourcing authentic ingredients. Complete your culinary journey with a glass of wine or mint tea to pair with your meal.
