Class Experience
Join us for Culinary Boot Camp and learn the practical skills that will make you a better home cook.
Culinary Boot Camp is designed to provide basic kitchen/culinary skills for the novice cook and to further assist with the development of practical survival kitchen skills. Boot camp is completely hands on in the kitchen!
This course will develop basic knife skills, fundamental cooking techniques for meat, poultry, vegetables, and grains. Learn how to cook at the proper temperature, using the right tool for the right job and how to organize yourself in your own kitchen. .
The sessions will begin with a focus on knife skills, and culinary terminology related to the session menu items.
This is a six-week-Saturday session. Each session will build on the next.
Each week will focus on knife skills, and an introduction to stocks and sauces. Moist heat and dry heat cooking methods will be covered, with a concentration on braising, searing, and combination cooking. Finally at the end of the series we will do and introductory to egg cookery and savory quick breads.

- Week 1: Knife Skills Part 1, French Cassoulet, Loaded Potato Soup, Chicken Stock
- Week2: Knife Skills Part 2, Chicken Sausage Jambalaya, Pot Pie, (Bechemel sauce) Macaroni and Cheese, Basic White Bread
- Week 3: Hand Cut Pasta, Marinara, Polenta, Vodka Sauce
- Week 4: Beef Medallions with Cabernet Pan Sauce, Horseradish Mashed Potatoes, Pan Roasted Green Beans, Vegetable Fritters, Remoulade Sauce, Cream Cheese Pound Cake
- Week 5: Pan Seared Salmon, Chipotle Butter, Stuffed Chicken Breast, Balsamic Reduction, Risotto,
- Week 6: Egg Cookery & Skills Review: Buttermilk Biscuits, French Rolled Omelets, Quiche, Pastry Dough, Fruit Turnover

Missed Class Policy:
- Students cannot miss the first class. If you do, you must start over in the next available semester. Refund or Credit will be given based on our terms and conditions.
- If you miss one class, students can make up the classed missed in the next semester, and continue on with the rest of the semester.
- If two classes are missed and you would like to make up missed classes next semester, you must pay an additional $85 per class missed, ($170)
- If three or more classes are missed, you cannot finish this semester, and must pay $85 x 3 class ($255) for the next semester.
- Exception: If you get sick, we will wave the fee with a doctor's note. Please do not come to class ill.
