This is one for the books. On Thursday, February 20, ctrl teams up with none other than TekLife to bring you the best of the best in juke and footwork: DJ Spinn, Loefah and Traxman.
DJ Spinn has been a staple in footwork circles since the late ‘90s, and regular DJ at house parties throughout Chicago. Having started his career dancing for the legendary early dance crew House–O–Matics, he later on became part of Wolf Pac with his partner in crime, DJ Rashad, with whom he co-founded TekLife. Known for breaking down everything from hip-hop tracks to Pink Floyd into circle worthy material, as well as for creating the no. 1 selling juke track of all time, "Bounce N Break Yo Back”, his numerous albums, remixes, and sets have changed the way people think about House music.

Last year, UK Bass titan and Swamp 81 label head Loefah made his Teklife debut with a release full of raw house energy. Known for revolutionizing the bass-heavy sound of South London time and time again, his dark and minimal style has long expanded beyond dubstep, taking cues from Chicago tradition, pummeling rhythms and haunting atmospheres, and blending them into trippy warehouse music.

Ghetto house and juke legend Traxman has a long history in the Chicago house scene, being strongly rooted in the city’s history of soul, funk, house and Ghetto Trax. He’s a veteran and renowned crate digger who has provided the sample sources for many of house, juke and footwork's classic tracks over the years. Part of the Geto DJz and Ghetto Teknitianz cliques, his deep knowledge of music makes him one of the city’s most versatile and skilled DJs and producers.

This legendary line-up is rounded up by our own Vladimir, who’s spent over 10 years as an underground DJ and turntablist for the likes of Rimaru, Raku, Carbon, or Killa Fonic, and part of different crews such as Subbrigade and LoveHertz. He was one of the first DJs to mix footwork music in Romania, in 2012. Since 2019, Vladmir has been responsible for visuals and lighting on most nights at Control.
