About this Event
We are excited to have Torin Takala - Project Officer with Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission present for our February Nooner. Torin is based in Saskatoon and is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. He has worked in the Mining and Manufacturing sectors and is currently a Project officer and Nuclear Inspector for the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Canada’s Nuclear Regulator. His role is to manage the CNSC’s regulatory oversight of certain files, and conduct inspections of the CNSC licensed Mines and mills including decommissioned facilities.
The presentation will be an introduction to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Canada’s Independent nuclear regulator and provide an overview of the CNSC’s structure, mandate and its regulatory framework. While the presentation will not dive deeply into any one specific topic, the presentation will give background on the CNSC’s activities in Saskatchewan as they relate to Uranium Mines and Mills.
