Delve into the mesmerizing world of crystalline glazes in this comprehensive ceramics class. Discover the beauty and complexity of creating ceramics with stunning, crystalline patterns that transform ordinary pottery into extraordinary works of art.
Week 1- June 24
Students will go over basic glaze chemistry and create a batch of crystalline glaze. In this first class you will also create pieces to be glazed and the custom kiln furniture for each piece.
Pieces will need to be trimmed and brought to the studio to be bisque in-between week 1 and 2.
Week 2 - July 15
Thrown and bisque fired pieces are gathered, measured, fitted to furniture, glazed and loaded into the kiln.
Week 3- July 22
Look and discuss pieces from the kiln. Students will remove the furniture, grind feet, cleanup.
Crystalline Glaze is an intermediate-level class.

This class is happening at our main studio location at 301 E. 11th Street in Chattanooga, TN.
Find the studio: The studio is located in the basement of ArtsBuild at the corner of 11th and King Streets. Enter the glass lobby door facing 11th street and take the elevator down to “B” level. The elevator will remain locked up until 15 minutes prior to class start time.
Parking is available in the lot directly to the right of ArtsBuild. Metered street parking is also available.
