Crypticon Seattle is featuring it's 12th annual Competition, Sponsored by Stan Winston School of Character Arts and Cast of Thousands Studios. Our competition theme for 2022 is Exobiology : Aliens and other worldly creations. Our competitors are tasked with discovering a new world and then presenting a humanoid alien figure with special adaptations to their home. The competition features 5 FX artists applying a design to a model , in front of a live audience. They have 2 full hours to apply the FX makeup and assemble the character. At the end of the competition period, industry professionals judge the creations on the technical skill, artistic application, and thematic elements. The winner receives a one-year subscription to Stan Winston Schools online catalog of thousands of hours of demonstration and teaching videos, some of which feature previous winners of this competition.
