About this Event
The National Gallery: Art On Your Doorstep is a UK-wide programme that shares masterpieces from the nation’s collection with communities. From 3 February to 5 July 2026, Croydon will be exhibiting 30 stunning reproductions as part of a special borough-wide outdoor exhibition. As part of the programme, visual artist Rachel Gadsden will be working to create a new Croydon masterpiece, and you are invited to take part.
Join us for a relaxed evening of creativity at the Braithwaite Hall, Croydon Clocktower on 16 February. You will hear about Rachel’s work; get an overview of the exhibition and, inspired by the National Gallery’s iconic paintings, create a brand new large-scale artwork for Croydon.
No experience needed, the event is open to adults of all abilities and all materials will be provided.
Guided by Rachel, you’ll make your own piece of art that you will take home with you. A copy of it will contribute to the larger collaborative work, reimagining historic paintings through the experiences and cultures of Croydon’s people. Everyone’s contribution is important, and the final artwork will reflect the stories and energy of the community. Come along to sip, draw, and help create something meaningful together.
Ticket price includes nibbles, wine, beer and/or soft drinks. Tickets are non-refundable.
Strictly 18+.
