All highly respected and well renowned on the UK jazz scene, this is a band that oozes class and promises to dazzle and delight for a proper Christmas knees up! Art Themen is the jazz equivalent of a national treasure. One of the most individual voices in UK jazz history Art started out playing with ‘blues-boom’ legend Alexis Korner before a long and fruitful association with Stan Tracey. Along the way Themen has made music with such luminaries as Michael Garrick, Graham Collier and Ian Carr.
Gareth Williams is one of the UK’s leading modern jazz pianists. A fiery and creative player, he won the British Jazz Awards in 2013. He has played with an impressive array of world-class artists, from Jazz/Hip Hop band “Us3” to jazz musicians such as Joe Lovano, Jerry Bergonzi, George Coleman and Jim Mullen. He has been MD for vocalist Claire Martin for many years. The Welsh born musician is a brilliant and inspired jazz piano soloist, capable of galvanising the music of any band in which he appears.
Denny Ilett is rare commodity - a virtuoso British guitarist and a talented writer/arranger, who has honed his chops not on the UK scene but rather by playing and touring with some of New Orleans finest including Lillian Boutte and members of such notable bands as The Meters, Dr John and the Harry Connick Jnr Big Band.
Raph Mizraki is a musician with an extraordinary array of talents. He is perhaps best known as a jazz bass player and is regarded as one of the finest in Britain. In this capacity, he has for many years been a member of the house band at the Oxford jazz club, The Spin, and he has worked with many celebrated musicians, including John Etheridge and Chris Garrick. Raph has also played with many early music ensembles, performing variously on double bass, violine, oud, rebec, viol, dulcimer and an array of percussion instruments.
Charlie Stratford - a favourite at the club, Charlie was originally trained at Berklee, and has carved out a hugely successful career as a jazz drummer working at the top of the UK jazz scene alongside many of the finest musicians in the country.
