The annual open day of Crosby Hall gardens with craft and artisan food stalls and afternoon tea at CHETExplore the stunning gardens at Crosby Hall. The present Crosby Hall was built about 1609 in the Jacobean style, with gabled roofs and mullioned windows. It was then ‘updated’ in the 1780s into the Georgian style. The garden and park were designed a few decades later by John Webb (a garden architect influenced by Capability Brown). 200 years later the bones of Webb’s design remain and the trees that he planted have reached maturity. In 2010 the decision was made to start an ongoing renovation of the garden, faithful to the historic design but including new elements. Matt Jones took charge of the garden in 2020 and he is making his mark, with the rose border near the sundial being transformed into a riot of colours. A wildflower meadow, full of butterflies and insects and a new vegetable garden.
Delicious cakes, scones and hot and cold drinks will be on sale at CHET along with local plant, craft and artisan food stalls.
