Crooked Rhythm Band No. 1

Crooked Rhythm Band No. 1 is less a band, more a living, breathing organism. A coalition of Nashville’s most accomplished musicians bound by a shared obsession: the uncharted possibilities of rhythm. Anchored by trombonist Ray Mason and saxophonist Jake Botts, the group draws on the eclectic lineage of its members, whose résumés include collaborations with Antibalas, The Black Keys, Dr. Dog, J. Cole, Pete Rock, and beyond. Their sound pays homage to the groove-heavy brilliance of Fela Kuti while defying boundaries, each performance an improvisational voyage into the unknown. At its heart, this is music that moves - physically, emotionally and spiritually.
