Influenced by Joy Division, DIIV, The Smiths, and my bloody valentine, they released their debut EP while still in high school (Nov 2017), and were awarded The Asbury Park Music Award for Best Young New Artist. Their second EP “Beach Karma” (July 2018) brought the band greater recognition, with college and international radio airtime. The EP was listed on “You Don’t Know Jersey’s” “Best NJ Records of 2018” and the band appeared on NJ.com’s “Top Bands to Hear in 2019” and again in 2020. The band’s debut LP “We’re Drifting Further Apart, Aren’t We?” was released during the pandemic lockdown in 2021, featuring their big hit “Aubrey” (1m+ streams), and was recorded and produced by Erik Kase Romero of The Front Bottoms (Lorde/Gaslight Anthem).
Last year, Sonic Blume released their sophomore LP, "All Your Favorite Songs," in November 2023, again produced by Romero and featuring “Falling Behind” co-written by Adrian Simon. Their biggest opportunity to date, Sonic Blume performed at the 2024 Sea Hear Now music festival in Asbury Park, NJ, headlined by Bruce Springsteen and Noah Kahan.
Sonic Blume has also provided direct support for notable recording artists joe p, flipturn, The Happy Fits, and Tor Miller.
