A hike to find and draw the first blooms of spring no previous art experience necessary!
The furry prairie crocus (Pulsatilla nuttalliana) is a beloved sign of spring in Alberta. Join us on Nose Hill to hunt – and draw – the earliest crocuses. We’ll bring our sketchbooks and check the fescue and poke around the south facing slopes. We’ll talk botany and history and jot sketches. Hikers who don’t draw are welcome to take notes and photos. Let’s search for spring together!

Award-winning artist/author Carolyn Fisher has illustrated nine picture books four of which she also wrote. Her book Summer Feet (with writer Sheree Fitch) won the David Booth Prize at the Canadian Children’s Book Awards. In addition to teaching at art college for seven years Carolyn has talked to thousands of kids and adults about writing art and making books.
